Can you show me external corners please
Another commenter wanting to see how the corners are made weather tight, not the obvious bit...
Super helpful thank you🙏
is there something like this that can stick onto grp fiberglass roof?
Well that was a waste of time. Wanted to see how the rubber was actually fit to the roof around the skylight as that would be tricky then how it gets finished off.
very profesional.
wheres the corner fillet
i can't imagine how this doesn't leak
cos stick like a mtf with the heat.
Not great technique with that corner but it probably wont pop out for a while at least before the check clears
Good Demonstrated process for rubber roofing
Supposed to terminate pipe 3 plates and screws
That's '9' trim not 'p' trim 🤔
how about when its on site and the upstand is a brick wall ? would you lead flash over it ?
“Should stay in position” Doesn’t fill the consumer with confidence.
Just installed this. Looks really neat and although the gutter trim was hardwork, I found fairly liquid helped make the job easier.
Can't see it from my house
So we dont need screws on perimeter wall? Like russtrip?
This drip tray system is awful. Next to impossible to install
I bought and tried this kit. Cheap, weak and very difficult to install (especially the drip tray)
Haha no way is it that easy. It's IMPOSSIBLE to fit the drip tray after (even with 3 men trying to force it). Honestly a terrible product. You guys really need to redesign this. For the amount of margin you make on each kit you should really put some cash into a redesign.
Why folding it upwards? The rain is always come downwards. There will be a possible penetration because it might catch the rain. It is better to fold downwards or cut it in the middle then overlap it.
Ya hes missing his rpf strip for a tutorial thats obviously a mock up in his shop which purpose is to show you how to fabricate a corner not the field, gosh dang roofers just have to get their self worth by creating some flaw for others like a 5 grader cant do their job, like bro if you really were a competent human you wouldnt be a roofer
helpful instruction to follow , thanks
What terrible product. You have to be Eddie hall the push them up to get them to click in. Think you need a rethink on this one
As with Roger L - i've got the 1.5mm rubber and is nearly impossible to get in the groove. i've managed some bits but where there is a an even thicker seam I can't see how it's possible. It's cracked part of the securing strip too. i'm thinking heat gun or even sand the seams thinner.
on discussion with permaroof they advised not to use a heatgun in case of scorching the rubber and plastic, but i used an old hairdryer which significantly helped make the rubber more plyable. Where my rubber had a seam which made it even thicker, their advise was to, using a sharpe knife, shave a small amount off the plastic edging, equivalent to the width of the seam but leave enough so that it still pushes the rubber into the groove. I found about 2-3mm depth off the plastic strip worked.
@@adix179 Hi, I've just used this product for the first time, using the heavy duty Firestone stuff. I sussed out a neat little trick that made the job easy. Just take an offcut of the drip section (about 3-4 inches) and work along, using the sharp end to force the membrane up into the slot. It stays in place and the full length can then be popped in quite easily. I gave it gentle taps with a rubber mallet and that was it.
@@KDhrfud Shall give this a go..ta!
Thanks for the useful video, will it work on a fibre glass roof that has those tiny pieces of fibre glass bumps in it?
how do you do it when it's a replace job though and the pipework is already there. meaning you can't slide over the top 🤔
You’d have to field wrap it with flashing
I usually use the Firestone system, I’ve got to say the two are identical I don’t o ow if that’s because they are actually the same product? The only thing I noticed different was the plastic backing film on the first flashing... I once rectified a job done after a cowboy had been up there, two days after it had been fitted.. an absolute mess... I thought the system he had used was Firestone except the flashings he had left behind had the plastic instead of paper foils... epdm gets too much stigma on these videos because idiots like the one mentioned above think it’s easy to do...
That's shite looking, why is the patch not placed underneath first and then all else flashed over and covered, that's would drive me mad.
That’s really helpful. Thanks
Do not buy this crap! The adhesive is not holding the membrane! And the worst part is that you won't get any support if you have any problems! The Hertalan will simply ignore your emails, that is what happened to me.
Hertanlan is a different product and company mate... sounds like you probably went for the cheapest option and now paying the price 😖 do some research, do a course, then see if it doesn’t work 👍🏻
Iv got Firestone roofs 15 years old up to 1000 square meters still the same as the day they were laid it's the person laying it not the product
Again no close-ups in this video. Not particularly professional or instructional. Should be part of the video showing (not very well, either) the installation of the back-plate.
You can't even see which way up on this! Something more professional with close ups would help. Also, it's a really short video. Most people would rather half of it wasn't taken up by showing some screws being screwed partially, then fully in. I'd rather see something done more professionally. Also, the second video showing the drip plate installation should be included in this video as most people will not want to do one without doing the other. One other thing, 10% of this video is the logo and re-stating the video title!
Try doing it when the roof is 20ft up in the air!
They make it look so easy, anyone who has used this knows its a lot harder to do, chances of getting the rubber square over a 20mt roof is slim, thats when they fuck up
Used this with the 1.5mm rubber. Nearly impossible to fit as the pressure needed to push the rubber into the groove isn't achievable by hand. Especially gard from above. Ended up using a wood working clamp to hold in place and tapping in with a hammer.
Completely agree Roger, I ended up cutting the rubber off flush and using a bead of silicone to seal the rubber to the edge trim, how correct this is I don't know but on the day after how frustrated I got watching this video it was the only thing that made sense. Hours of struggling to get nowhere.
I had this problem as well, I got over it by inserting the rubber into the top grove on the trim by pushing it in with a with a thin bladed filling knife worked my way along the whole roof edge, then I placed the drip trim into the groove and all worked fine from there with a gentler tap with a hammer and a short piece of Batten on the lower edge.
its easy to do it on a floor but when you laying the whole roof and around the roof windows this is hard. This video is showing the easy part. Can you show us how to do the external corners.
Wouldn't it be better if the corner seal patch went on before the upstand no?
No response... Lol
I thought exactly the same. Wrong way round.
No it wouldnt
@@leeingham4371 sa should not go over form flash and rubber should not be on top of any .. for me I dont use the sa for corners as there is no need I over lap the rubber join with 3 inch splice tape and the flash the joint the sa is not needed in this application it could be worse tho he could of done this way without sa then it would of failed within five years
Yes then you got more security... But like this you get more change of a leak
Not very encouraging blatant gaps where patches meet not good
Much appreciated
iam a roofer its bull dog shit
Nice and simple. Thank you.
Waste of time usless video
Link a better one?
I agree its the corners which need dealing with and sealing which aren't addressed
Can this be used on a woodburner single wall flue?
No it will melt the flashing
Did anyone notice that this guy cut off the tape edge of the peel and stick form flash?he totally just wanted the most important part of the flashing.
Super product! Thanks.
I see a leak in future why leave any wood exposed on corners.
😂
Ya I was thinking the same.
It's a roof, why wouldn' t you just tar it? It seems tar would seal more efficient.
tar doesn't work well with rubber. i believe it eats through it
TE S no
Please dont tell me u work on peoples roofs poor people
I would have folded the flap down
aplace inthesun then you have a chance of it opening over time. the way he did it will be completely sealed off with termination bar.
Ponding water on the roof will cause the glued lap to be under hydrostatic pressure if the lap were turned down. As Andrew said, this way, the discontinuity is behind a termination bar, counterflashing, coping, or wall cladding.

and then some one like me would have come along a year later to fix
That cos ur an idiot
